Home & Living consolidates & digitalises!
Whether it's the furniture bubble or not, everyone in the digital scene has probably noticed the many news items that show the prevailing zeitgeist in the furnishing industry. A few excerpts from the last few weeks:
IKEA doubles its E-Commerce sales share to 34% in 2021!
XXXLutz Germany absorbs moebel.de Einrichten & Wohnen AG & gets more depth in terms of E-Commerce logic!
home24 SE acquires BUTLERS GmbH & Co.KG & sends a clear signal towards omnichannel!
Wayfair can maintain the significant share price jump from 2020 in the long run and conquers the huge addressable market in DE!
In my role as co-founder of mokebo, these are exciting developments. They show that we made the right decision in 2018: To be part of one of the last big industries (besides the likes of Pharma & Grocery) to go digital. 🛏️ 🪑
At the same time, through my professional E-Commerce at Amazon past & present at mokebo, I see it as a responsibility to support others in the industry with tips & tricks!
That's why I'm excited about the opportunity to write a guest post three-parter together with Monika Maruschka from ambista - the interior design business network. I write about "why furniture & E-Commerce go so well together" (Part I), "E-Commerce is the only way to sustainable success for this industry" (Part II) and also include insights from my secret toolbox "The three and a half most important tips for the first steps" (Part III, to be published in January).
The E-Commerce share for furniture is currently 10% - when do you think we'll reach 33.3%?! 🙏 🛋️
